MEXT Scholarship Program 2027 – Research Students Program (Postgraduates)

General Outline

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program. This program offers scholarships to international students who wish to pursue their studies at universities and colleges in Japan (only Jordanian Nationals are eligible to apply through the Japanese Embassy in Jordan). The scholarship aims to promote mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Jordan. We welcome applications from motivated students who aspire to contribute to the development of both countries and the global community.

Schedule

Application deadline May 21, 4PM (Jordan time) 2026
*The completed and printed application must be submitted to the Embassy of Japan
in Jordan during the Embassy’s working hours. (No appointment necessary)
*Early submissions are highly encouraged.
Examination June 15, 2026
*Candidates who passed initial screening of the applications will be invited to the
examination.
*Examination must be conducted in person at the Embassy of Japan in Jordan.
Interview July 8, 2026
*Candidates who passed the examination will be invited to the interview.
*Interview must be conducted in person at the Embassy of Japan in Jordan.
Results of the Embassy screening Middle July 2026
Screening by the MEXT November 2026
Final results with placement January 2027–
Departure for Japan April or September/October 2027

 Applicants must read "Application Guidelines" carefully and download all the necessary application forms from the link below.

* You also need to submit copy of National ID upon application in addition to the above documents.
*You can submit the Health Certificate after the initial screening and the exams. Those who pass these stages will be asked to submit the Health Certificate by the Embassy.  

Important Notes

•Please carefully read the JAASO Website and the Application Guidelines.
•Please carefully read the Frequesntly Asked Question.
•Electronic applications are not acceptable. Only printed hard copy of applications are accepted. Applications must be delivered to the Embassy by the deadline, either by hand or via postal service. Please make sure not to use previous year's application forms (Use 2027 application forms).
•The academic performance of the undergraduate and the master's graduate (if applying for a doctoral course) must be approximately 70 percent or higher.

•Applicants must hold Jordanian nationality (Jordanian ID). Those with a nationality other than Jordanian should contact the Embassy of Japan in their home country.
•Only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the examination/interview schedule and the screening results by e-mail.
