2026/3/25
On March 25, 2026, Ambassador ASARI Hideki of Japan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan attended a ceremony at King Hussein Medical City to handover the medical equipments under the project “Strengthening the Operational Capacity of the Royal Medical Services in Responding to the Regional Unrest,” implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Under this project, the Government of Japan provided 3 million USD to procure specialized medical equipment to 13 RMS facilities across seven governorates in Jordan.

Referring to the ongoing crisis in the region, Ambassador ASARI stated that “I hope that Japan’s humanitarian assistance will help Jordan overcome its current crisis while fulfilling its role as an anchor of regional stability. I also hope that it will contribute to the effective provision of medical support and healthcare for vulnerable people throughout Jordan, as well as for Palestinians medically evacuated to Jordan from Gaza under the royal initiative, and further contribute to strengthening the capabilities of the RMS.”

On the same day, Ambassador ASARI attended the opening ceremony for the operating room at the Queen Alia Cardiac and Surgical Center and visited the Centre. Through UNOPS, Japan provided the hospital with essential medical equipment, including operating tables, ICU patient beds, mobile X-ray machine, and electrocardiograms.
