Japan’s Foreign Minister Commendation Award 2025

Dr. Akihiro Seita, Director of the Health Department of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), has been selected to receive the 2025 Minister of Foreign Affairs Award.
The Foreign Minister Commendation Award is bestowed upon individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to promoting friendly relations between Japan and other countries, particularly in the international field.
Dr. Seita has dedicated over 30 years to providing medical services in the Middle East region, and in particular, in response to the recent deterioration of the situation in Gaza, he has visited the Gaza Strip multiple times and made significant efforts to address the humanitarian crisis, including polio vaccination campaigns.
