On April 24, 2025, Ambassador ASARI Hideki paid a courtesy call on Maj. Gen. Yousef A. Al-Hnaity, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Jordan Armed Forces-Arab army at its Headquarter. Two sides discussed and exchanged views on defense cooperations and people-to-people exchanges between Japan and Jordan.
Ambassador ASARI emphasized the importance of Jordan maintaining stability in the Middle East region that is facing various challenges and expressed his deep appreciation for the Jordan Armed Forces’ cooperation and support for the Japan-Jordan defense cooperation and exchanges, particularly for JAF’s assistance in evacuating Japanese and other citizens from Israel in 2023 and Lebanon in 2024. The Ambassador also stressed the necessity to further enhancing the strategic partnership with Jordan in the future.
Chairman Hnaity wholeheartedly welcomed Ambassador ASARI to his new post. He also mentioned King Abdullah's strong interest in cooperation with Japan, and stated that Jordan and Japan are one family, and that King Abdullah has been generous in supporting Japan, expressing his hope for further people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
