MEXT Scholarship Program 2026 – Undergraduate Program

General Outline
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program. This program offers scholarships to international students who wish to pursue their studies at universities and colleges in Japan. The scholarship aims to promote mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Jordan. We welcome applications from motivated students who aspire to contribute to the development of both countries and the global community.
Schedule
Application deadline | May 20, 4PM (Jordan time) 2025 *The completed and printed application must be submitted to the Embassy of Japan in Jordan during the Embassy’s working hours. (No appointment necessary) *Early submissions are highly encouraged. |
Examination | June 30, 2025 *Candidates who passed initial screening of the applications will be invited to the examination. *Examination must be conducted in person at the Embassy of Japan in Jordan. |
Interview | July 8, 2025 *Candidates who passed the examination will be invited to the interview. *Interview must be conducted in person at the Embassy of Japan in Jordan. |
Results of the Embassy screening | Middle July 2025 |
Screening by the MEXT | November 2025 |
Final results with placement | December 2025 – February 2026 |
Departure for Japan | April or September/October 2026 |
Important Notes
•Please carefully read the JAASO Website and the Application Guidelines.
•Please carefully read the Frequently Asked Question.
•Electronic applications are not acceptable. Only printed hard copy of applications are accepted. Applications must be delivered to the Embassy by the deadline, either by hand or via postal service. Please make sure not to use previous year's application forms (Use 2026 application forms).
•The academic performance of the Tawjehi (or equivalent)must be above 80% for engineering and any other scientific major, 85% for medical and dental study, and 70% for the other majors.
•Sample Examination Questions can be found here.
•Applicants should hold Jordanian nationality (Jordanian ID). Those with a nationality other than Jordanian should contact the Embassy of Japan in their home country.
•Only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the examination/interview schedule and the screening results by e-mail.
