This year marks the 50th anniversary of the
inception of the existing friendly and amicable relations between
Japan
and
Jordan
. On
14 July 1954
, the diplomatic missions of
Japan
and
Jordan
in
Cairo
exchanged notes verbales in order to establish
diplomatic relation. Since
then, the people of all sorts from the government, private sector,
volunteers and youth in both countries have fostered this significant
partnership for fifty years and their endeavor has borne the closest
relationships today.
The idea of planting Japanese cherry trees was initiated by the
Japanese citizens in
Jordan
who hoped for celebrating the 50th Anniversary and
ever lasting friendship with the People of Jordan.
This project was the first event which will be followed by a
series of commemorative events for the 50th Anniversary of the
Establishment of the Diplomatic relations between
Japan
and
Jordan
. A lot
of Japanese residents as well as Japanese private companies working in
Jordan
have offered donation for bringing the cherry
trees from
Japan
.
Cherry-blossom is a national flower of
Japan
. In
the eyes of the Japanese people it represents integrity.
Accordingly, the Japanese community in
Jordan
considers cherry blossom suitable for the integral
partnership between
Japan
and
Jordan
.
The
Greater Amman Municipality has offered strong and professional support
to the project under the farseeing instruction of the Lord Mayor.
Al-Hussein
Park
is rapidly and widely developed for
Amman
