Entry
Session Two (Presentation and Speech)
Entry 1. Please fill out the designated application form and submit it to the Cultural section of the Embassy not later than Wednesday, 30 January 2008.
2. Each session shall accept only ten complete applications in order of receipt.
3. Participants in the Speech session must have study experience in Japanese longer than eight months.
4. Participants in the Presentation session must be a Japanese language student.

Remarks
Remarks 1. Those who stayed in Japan longer than a year may participate in the event as a special entry, but are not entitled to win a prize other than arranged for the special entry.
2. Those who won the first place of the Japanese Speech Contest held in Jordan in the past three years are not entitled to win a prize in the same category of the contest
3. Those who have a Japanese parent may not participate.

Awards


The Speech Session
The first place The first candidate for the program to visit Japan (*),
and a Japanese electronic dictionary
The second place Furigana Japanese dictionary
The third place Furigana Japanese dictionary
* The program to visit Japan: The jury will recommend to the Embassy of Japan TWO outstanding Jordanian participants as candidates for the Youth Exchange Program to visit Japan. The candidates must meet the program criteria and the Embassy holds authority to choose the participants in the program.

The Presentation Session
The first place "Manyo Luster"
A translation with photographic images of the anthology of Japanese poetry
The second place "Manyo Luster"
The third place "Manyo Luster"
The special prize The most outstanding presentation will be adopted as a P.R. tool of the Embassy. A prize for it will be announced later.

The Special Entry
The most outstanding contestant Dinner invitation

Japanese cuisine dinner
The above prize winners will be invited to dinner of Japanese cuisine

Details of the Speech Session


The Speech Session
1. A participant must choose one of the following subjects:
  a. Sorry / Thank you
b. The [...........] that changed my life
  c. In Japanese proverbs we say ...................
  d. Why ……
2. The speech must be not longer than six minutes.
3. The contestant must submit a translation of the speech either in English or Arabic saved in MS Word to the Embassy not later than Wednesday, 13 February 2008

Marking guidelines for the Speech Session
1. Pronunciation and smoothness
2. Correct use of words and organization of passages
3. Original content according to the given subject
4. Coherence
5. Manner of presentation
6. Memorization pf the speech is a plus
7. A speech longer than six minutes will result in deducting marks

Details of the Presentation Session


The Presentation Session
1. Participants will make a presentation in English entitled "The Japan that I want to introduce to Jordanians". Each contestant has five minutes for the presentation.

Marking guidelines for the Presentation Session
1. Originality in the choice of presentation subject
2. Attractiveness of the content of presentation
3. Proper research and correct presentation of the subject
4. Originality and manner of presentation and use of multimedia
5. Proper and clear language usage, smoothness of presentation
6. Memorization of presentation is a plus
7. Presentation longer than five minutes will result in deducting marks
