The Ambassador witnessed the successful opening of "Hiroshima Week in Amman".

Japanese Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Koichi Obata, witnessed the successful opening of the event “ Hiroshima … Tale of a City” which took place at the University of Jordan on 21 December under the Royal patronage of H.R.H. Princess Raya bint Al-Hussein who deputized H.R.H. Princess Aisha bint Al-Hussein.

The event, which was organized by the Center for Security Studies in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan, was attended by a number of Jordanian students and intellectuals. The opening was followed by the screening of a documentary   " Hiroshima , a Mother’s Prayer" which demonstrated the suffering of Hiroshima and its citizens. Also, an exhibition featuring photos illustrating the humanitarian catastrophe, which took place in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the World War II in 1945, when the US Army bombed the cities with an atomic bomb, was opened too.

Moreover and as part of the event's weeklong activities, Deputy Mayor of Amman, Engineer Abdel Rahim Biqae and Mr. Obata inaugurated the documentary exhibition at the Zaha Cultural Center on 22 December. Mr. Biqae and Mr. Obata opened a mural show "A Letter from Amman Children to Hiroshima ", which illustrated paintings drawn by Jordanian school children who expressed their agony over the catastrophe that occurred in the two Japanese cities.
