Satoru
Shionoya (Piano)
is
a representative pianist who has a supple musical capacity and
keen skills. He
was
born in 1966,
Tokyo
and studied music composition in the Tokyo National University
of Fine Arts and Music. From
1986 he performed in a world-wide salsa band, “ORQUESTA DE LA
LUZ”, which won the U.N. Peace Medal in 1993 and were
nominated on the GRAMMY AWARDS in 1995.
He launched his solo career in 1993 and also his own unit
in 2002 and has released eight albums in total.
He has managed to incorporate jazz, pop and classical
music into his music and his endeavor enables him to create
unique sound.
Hiroshi Yoshino (Contrabass) was
born in 1955,
Hiroshima
,
and aspired to be a jazz bassist from his high school days. In
1979 he started professional career and joined in many famous
jazz groups in
Japan
since then. He
formed his own group and released one album. He
has made collaboration with various musicians in different genre
and has toured not only in
Japan
but abroad as well, namely,
China
,
Mongolia
,
Central
Asia
,
Singapore
,
etc. Yoshino plays
wood bass as ethnic instrument for him and has been extending
his activity across musical genres.
Gen
Ogimi (Percussion)
was
born in 1963, Kanagawa, he showed up in the music scene when he
won the superior prize in a band contest in 1981. He
formed his own band the “ORQUESTA DE LA LUZ” in 1983, which
Shionoya joined later. Their
tour in
Cuba
and
New
York
was well received by local people.
He has been very active in collaboration with foreign
music and Japanese players in different genre since his
withdrawal from the band. Ogimi
performs not only for Latin music but has lots of invitations
from various artists in different backgrounds as pop, rock,
jazz, etc. |
