Japan and Jordan to sign for the project worth JD 3.2 million for provision of medical equipment to hospitals in Karak and Ma’an and Al-Basheer Hospital

Today the Government of Japan has extended to the Government of Jordan a grant of up to five hundred and twenty-three million Yen (Ұ523,000,000) approximately three million and two hundred thousand JD (3,200,000JD) at the current exchange rate, for the project for provision of medical equipment to hospitals in Karak and Ma’an, and Al-Basheer Hospital. Notes to this effect were exchanged in Amman, between H.E. Shigenobu Kato, Ambassador of Japan and H.E. Mrs. Suhair Al-Ali, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.
This project aims to up-grade various medical equipment to be utilized at Al-Basheer Hospital in Amman, and hospitals in Karak and Ma’an respectively. On completion of this project, there will be significantly improving medical services in these hospitals through installations of many highly qualified medical equipment in relation to diagnostic imaging system, surgical operations gears, intensive care units, and obstetrics and gynecology departments’ requirements.
In the medical sector, Japan extended two grant assistances in 1997 under the projects for provision of medical equipment for Jordan University Hospital and for emergency medical services. Total sum of ten million JD was granted to these projects.
The Government of Japan is pleased to be a part of this venture in support of medical needs, and welcomes the opportunity to work along with the Government of Jordan on possible future projects, all with a view to strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual cooperation which exist between the two countries.
