H.E. Mr. Koichi Obata, Ambassador of Japan, visited Bani Hamida village on 18 January and toured the Jordan River Foundations’ Bani Hamida Women's weaving project, which the Embassy of Japan has, in March 2004, supported with a $50,000 grant to help finance the purchase of essential equipment and machines.

Mr. Obata inspected the donated implements and applauded the lively activities especially at the sites for carding and making candles.

The Ambassador also visited a house where a mother weaves traditional rugs and listened to her explanation of weaving.

Village women, a representative from the Jordan River Foundation and the Ambassador exchanged Views and discussion for further cooperation.

This grant was provided within the framework of the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GAGP).
