Working
towards promoting cultural, educational and research activities in
developing countries, including the preservation of cultural assets
and thereby help those countries achieve sustainable development, the
Government of Japan has decided to extend a grant aid of 39,700,000
JYE ($360.000) to the Royal Cultural Center (RCC) for the project of
Improvement of Audio-Visual Equipment under the Cultural Grant Aid
Program.
The grant, to be signed between His Excellency Ambassador of Japan,
Mr. Koichi Obata and Her Excellency Minister of Planning and
International Cooperation, Ms. Suhair Al Ali, on Sunday 2 October
2005, is the second to be offered to the RCC where, in 1994, the
project of Supplying the Center’s Sound Equipment, Conference and TV
Recording and Editing System was carried out.
The Embassy of Japan in
Jordan
has a
long history of collaboration with the
Royal
Cultural
Center
, a
haven for all art lovers. Many exhibitions, concerts and conferences
have taken place since its establishment in 1982, the latest being a
successful musical concert held by Japanese group “Trad:ism” on 8
September.
Jordan
has exerted conscious efforts toward cultural
activities along with other areas of nation building. The
Cultural Grant Aid of
Japan
was introduced to
Jordan
in 1981 to further expand the field of the
partnership between the two countries. Since then,
Japan
has granted a total amount of 809 million yen
(approximately JD5,6 million) for 20 projects which play an important
role in the promotion of cultural, educational and sports activities
in the Kingdom.
