Japan extends 2.011 billion Japanese Yen (Approx. US$ 18 million) for the improvement of the water supply networks

To improve and expand the water supply networks in North and Middle Jordan Valley 

  

The Government of Japan has decided to extend 2.011 billion Japanese Yen (approximately US$ 18 million) grant assistances to Jordan to improve and expand the water supply networks in North/Middle Jordan Valley.

Agreements to this effect was signed between H.E. Ms. Suhair Al-Ali, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation; and H.E. Mr. Koichi Obata, Ambassador of Japan to Jordan in Amman on June 30, 2005 .

This project aims at improving current water supply condition in the area by renovating the existing pipes, renewing pump stations, increasing the capacity of distributing reservoirs, installing SCADA system and providing branch pipe materials, to reduce the amount of leakage, and increase the amount of water supply.

Japan has extended financial and technical assistances mainly in the field of developing water resources and reducing unaccounted for water. These assistances have been made in Japan ’s firm recognition that a stable and continuous water supply is imperative to the promotion of industrial, agricultural, social and other activities.
