Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is indeed a great honour and privilege for me to be here today and to be given the opportunity to say a few words at the Inauguration Ceremony of MESC-Fujikura Cable Company.
First of all, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Mr. Salem Khaza’leh, the Minister of Industry and Trade, for being amongst us today and for all the support extended to realize MESC-Fujikura Cable Company, also my sincere thanks go to other guests participating today’s memorable ceremony.
As Ambassador of Japan, I am pleased in particular to welcome the investment of a Japanese leading company in the field of power cable manufacture to Jordan. I have learned that this is the first joint venture in the Middle East for Fujikura.
As you know, under the guidance of H.M. the King Abudullah Ⅱ, Jordan has been engaged in various economic and social development activities to overcome the difficulties and challenges it is facing. The government launched the National Agenda in 2005 as the mid-term guiding principle to achieve a sustainable development. The Agenda sets eight priority areas such as reform, investment, infrastructure, labor and vocational training. Jordan has also made efforts in cooperation with the international community including Japan to reduce the state’s economic influence and boost the private sector in economy. It goes without saying that the private sector plays a pivotal role for a sustainable economic growth. Because I believe the business activities of private sector work as the main engines to develop our societies, we would like to continue to support such Jordanian efforts to achieve the goals set in the National Agenda.
In this regard, the new-born joint venture MESC-Fujikura Cable Company will be a model. Power is an essential infrastructure for moving forward social development. In addition, I believe that MESC-Fujikura will help create job opportunities for Jordanians and build capacities of the Jordanian workers through the transfer of skill and technology from Japan. This triangle cooperation network connected by Fujikura cables among Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Japan will definitely contribute to the regional social and economic development.
I am happy to witness such a memorable event and sincerely wish that the government and the people of Japan will continue to collaborate and work with you and I would like to wish the new company and its management to be a vivid model of success and to encourage other Japanese companies to follow its example to build a better tomorrow.
In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to all those associated with the establishment of MESC-Fujikura Cable Company and to wish you all the best of growth and prosperity for decades to come.
Thank you.
