Ambassador holds reception ceremony for JICA experts, Jordanian peers

Japanese Ambassador Mr.Tetsuo Shioguchi said Tokyo's ties with the Kingdom are "historically longstanding and strong" in different fields.

Mr. Shioguchi, during a reception ceremony yesterday evening to honor experts of Japan Int'l Cooperation Agency (JICA) , their Jordanian peers and Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) , added Tokyo is looking forward to strengthening relations with Jordan.

"The relentless work of honorees is a step ahead is in this direction," he pointed out.

Japan will continue to offer the Kingdom with technical and financial aid.

Its overall assistance to the country since 1999 reached $340 million, said Kunihiko Yoshida, the 2nd Economic Counselor , to our correspondent.

According to a bilateral agreement signed in 1985, over a thousand JOCV arrived here to work with governmental organizations countrywide as experts in education, health, vocational training, water management and disability affairs.
