Japan-Jordan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Courtesy Call on His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, by Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan
1. On April 2 (Fri), Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy call on His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who was visiting Japan. The courtesy call lasted for approximately twenty-five minutes starting at 2:15 p.m. Previously, he held a meeting (the 4th Japan-Jordan Policy Conference) with Mr. Nasser Judeh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, for approximately thirty minutes starting at 12:50 p.m.

2. At the Japan-Jordan foreign ministerial meeting, both ministers shared their understanding that they will make efforts to further develop favorable relations between Japan and Jordan. They also exchanged views regarding bilateral relations such as Japan’s economic cooperation with Jordan and nuclear power, as well as the Middle Eastern situation including the Middle East peace and Iran.

3. Afterwards, Minister Okada paid a courtesy call on King Abdullah II.
King Abdullah II said that he expects Japan to continue
to play a vital role regarding issues in the Middle
East, including the Middle East peace, and expressed his
gratitude for Japan’s past aid to Jordan. In response,
Minister Okada said that Japan intends to continue
providing economic aid to Jordan, considering Jordan’s
importance in the Middle Eastern region. He also stated
that he would like to cooperate regarding issues such as
climate change
