Japanese Ambassador signs a Grant Contract of
US$ 61,858 with the
Project for Improvement of Clinic in Al
Qasaba, Madaba city of Al Nadawa
Charitable Society
The Government of Japan has decided to extend a Sixty One thou-sand Eight hundred Fifty Eight US Dollars (US$61,858) grant in aid to Al-Nadawa Charitable Society and an agreement to that effect was signed on March 24, 2009 by Mr. Tetsuo Shioguchi, Ambassador of Japan to Jordan and Mr. Emad Mohammad Abu Rodwan, the President of Al-Nadawa Charitable Society.
Al Nadawa Charitable Society has been widely engaged in social support for underprivileged people in Al Qasaba, Madaba since 2002. This project will contribute to the Society’s social work.
According to the Society, there are only one private hospital and one public hospital in Madaba, which is very few considering the population of Madaba. Due to the lack of hospitals, the people have not been able to get enough medical service.
Today’s assistance will be used to purchase the medical equipment such as Diagnostic Ultrasound, Dental Unit, Microscope, Spectro-photometer, Electrolyte analyzer, Blood Gas Analyzer, Centrifuge and Hematocrite Centrifuge for a clinic of Al-Qasaba which is to be opened soon. The project is expected to improve the condition of medical service in Madaba.
This grant is provided within the framework of Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP). Japan has donated more than US$ 6.7 million for 116 projects to non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals and local governme-nts in Jordan for the last 15 years.
The total amount of Japanese economic cooperation which has been extended to the people in Jordan for the last decades is more than 3 Billion United States dollars (US$ 3,000,000,000), more than Two Billion Jordan Dinar (2,000,000,000 JD).
As for the area of health, the Japanese Government has supported the improvement of medical system in providing ambulances and equipment at various hospitals in order to enhance the accessibility to the medical care in all areas. The recent projects supported by the Japanese Government are as follows,
- The project for supporting the prevention of breast cancer to the health center in 2004 (87,617USD)
- The project for supporting the prevention of breast cancer to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation in 2005 (91,250USD)
- The project for the improvement of medical equipment for the labors clinic in 2005 (57,193USD)
- The project for provision of medical equipment to hospital in Karak and Ma’an and Al-Basheer Hospital in 2006 (4,500,000USD)
- The project for provision of medical equipment to clinic in Al-Wehdat Camp in 2007 (78,535USD)
- The project for provision of medical equipment to clinic in Husn Camp in 2007 (78,843USD)
