Japanese Embassy signs a Grant
Contract of US$29,237 with the Project for Enhancement of Service Quality of Al
Raja Center for Hearing Impaired Children of the
Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human
Development (JOHUD)
The Government of Japan has decided to extend a Twenty Nine thousand Two hundred Thirty Seven US Dollars (US$29,237) grant in aid to the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and an agreement to that effect was signed on Thursday, February 15, 2009 by Mr. Tetsuo Shioguchi, Ambassador of Japan to Jordan and Eman Al Nimri, Deputy Executive Director of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD)
This assistance will be used to purchase rubber flooring for Al Raja Center to provide its classrooms with an amplified acoustic quality by cutting down on the level of noise in classrooms and improving the listening environment for all students with hearing important.
This grant is provided within the framework of Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP). Japan has donated more than US$ 6.7 million for 115 projects to non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, and local governments in Jordan for the last 15 years.
The Jordanian Hashemite Fund
for Human Development (JOHUD) under the supervision of Her Royal Highness
Princess Basma Bint Talal, is the largest
and oldest non-profit, non-governmental organization in Jordan. It has been
engaged in sustainable human and social development,
・Supporting people with disability through special needs programs and providing social service
・ICT for development through creative media projects
・ Women’s empowerment through reproductive health and economic empowerment
・Sustainable livelihoods through integrated community development programs across the Jordan including village areas and pockets of poverty etc
since 1977.
Japan has been involved in
promoting empowerment for people and societies cooperated with JOHUD in Jordan,
・ Japanese Embassy supported ‘The Project for Construction of Regional ICT Center in Southern Area’ implemented by JOHUD in 2001. In the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots, Sixty One thousand Seven hundred US dollars (61,700USD) was granted to purchase ICT equipment.
・ Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has implemented technical cooperation and workshop for gender and reproductive health as follows:
