H.E. Mr. Shigenobu Kato, the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan, attended the annual gathering of graduates from Japanese universities which took place at Century Park Hotel on 23 February 2008. In addition to twenty graduates, newly scholarship granted students who will start study in Japan from this April and a few students who have started study in Japan last year and temporary stay in Jordan attended the event.
The Ambassador praised their role of the graduates in consolidation of the bilateral relationship between Japan and Jordan, and encouraged them in doing various activities. He also exchanged with them idea for the further upgrading the ties at lunch which followed the meeting.
Japan has offered a scholarship program for postgraduate studies to Jordanians since 1975. Having shared with the Jordanian people the belief that the development of human resources is the key to national well-being, it now offers to Jordan a scholarship for undergraduate studies, as well as for teachers, in addition to the full scholarship for postgraduate studies. The Embassy is going to invite application for the scholarship programs for 2009 in this April. Around thirty Jordanians are now in Japan to study at graduate schools
