Introduction of the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan

H.E. Ambassador Kosuge

Mr. Junichi Kosuge
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

The Government of Japan has appointed Mr. Junichi Kosuge,

the former Japanese Consul-General of Japan in Munich

as the Ambassador to Jordan in May 2011.

Mr. Kosuge is the 14th resident ambassador of Japan to Jordan.

Greetings from Ambassador Junichi Kosuge

Welcome to our website!

I assumed the post of Ambassador of Japan to Jordan on May 8th, 2011 and am pleased to have the chance to
experience this country and the warm hospitality of its people.

Japan and Jordan enjoy a very cordial relationship, beginning with the close ties between the Imperial Family of Japan and Royal Family of Jordan. Long-established ties in political, economic, business, volunteer, and cultural areas of activity and exchange further ensure the prosperity of a strong bilateral relationship.

Other than fulfilling a vital role in maintaining stability in the Middle East, Jordan is an active participant in several international issues including climate change. Thus, taking Jordan’s role as a basis, all embassy staff are continuing their efforts in order to advance cooperation with Jordan.

With regard to the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in March 2011, Jordan has dispatched a medical team from the Royal Medical Services, who have contributed greatly to the aid and treatment of the victims of Fukushima prefecture. I firmly believe that their activities have further contributed to the progress of relations between Japan and Jordan, and would like to express my sincere gratitude to His Majesty the King, the government and the people of Jordan.

There are currently about 340 Japanese nationals living in Jordan. As their representative embassy, I would like us to be able to be of assistance in making their lives as comfortable as possible.

From here onwards, I intend to further progress the relationship with Jordan, for which I ask for your guidance and cooperation.

June, 2011
