Ambassador Kato signs a Grant Contract of US$ 59,706 with Al-Farouq Society for Orphans Care for the purchase of medical equipment for its clinic in Husn Camp

The Government of Japan has decided to extend a US$ 59,706 grant in aid to Al-Farouq Society for Orphans Care and an agreement to that effect was signed on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 by H.E. Mr. Shigenobu Kato, the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan and Mr. Husain Fayez Hawary, Chairman of Al-Farouq Society for Orphans Care.

The grant will be used for the purchase of medical equipment for a clinic in Husn Camp operated by Al-Farouq Society for Orphans Care. The equipment will contribute to providing better medical treatment with twenty-four-hour emergency service for the orphans and underprivileged families in the camp.

Al-Farouq Society for Orphans Care was established in 1991, and since then the Society has been providing the health care and social welfare works as well as educational services for the orphans and their families. The Society devotes itself to income generating projects which have made the positive impact on the improvement of the living standards of the local community. Today’s grant aid is the second one by the Embassy to the Society. The first grant aid which was the sum of US$ 90,600 was extended for a medical center in Irbid in 1997.

This grant is provided within the framework of Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP). Japan has donated more than US$ 6.6 million for 111 projects to non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, and local governments in Jordan for the last 15 years.
