Message from Ambassador

It is a great honor and pleasure for me to introduce the concert, “Yui—Vibes from Southern Islands” featuring a group of musicians and a dancer from Okinawa. Okinawa is the southernmost prefecture of Japan, comprised of the numerous islands, where traditional music and dances have developed its uniqueness, distinctive of south island sentiments.

The exchange between Jordan and Okinawa in performing arts has been active throughout the recent years. The Embassy of Japan hosted concerts by musicians from Okinawa at Souq Ukaz in 2004 and at the Royal Cultural Center in 2005 respectively. The Performing Arts Center of Jordan joined “the International Festival for Young Audience 2007” in Okinawa. This year, the Embassy is delighted to participate in the Amman Summer Festival in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality.

Tonight’s concert will fascinate you with popular Okinawan folk songs and traditional dances, carefully chosen by the artists for your enjoyment. I believe nice southern vibes will further consolidate the friendly relationship between Japan and Jordan.

Concert on July 31 at Al Hussein Park, as a part of Amman Summer Festival
